| Just as Paddington is coping with all the attention surrounding his return to television in a series of ads for Marmite, it has been announced that he is all set to become a star on the big screen.
Paddington fans, who may be concerned about how he will successfully make the transition from book to film, will be delighted to hear that he will be in the safe hands of UK based David Heyman, the producer behind the series of Harry Potter films.
Jeff Robinov, President, Production, Warner Bros. Pictures who have acquired the rights said: "We’re eager to collaborate once again with David, as well as with our London creative team, on this ageless classic."
David Heyman, who will produce the film through his company Heyday Films, added: "Paddington Bear is a universally loved character and I have wanted to bring him to the screen for some years. Michael Bond’s Paddington books have such wit, wonder and charm. Essentially, Paddington’s story is that of an immigrant (bear) arriving in London, and trying to find a home and a family. Above all, I love Paddington’s unique take on life - he is a great comic creation."
Paddington himself was unavailable for comment but it’s understood that he’s making the most of his leisure time before work on the film begins because undoubtedly, once it does, his paws won’t touch the ground!
