| | | | | | Following the introduction of the Coalport china in 1974, many licenses soon followed in the wake of the enormously popular FilmFair television series of the mid 1970s.
Many of the Paddington products at the time featured photographic images of Paddington taken directly from the television episodes. On the right is a product which is typical of its time. It is a child's bagatelle game from 1976.
As well as photographic images of Paddington, quite a number of products were made using drawn images which were based on the television puppet. On the left, for instance, is a tin of Peek Freans biscuits from 1979 which was drawn using this style of artwork.
However, not all artwork of the time was taken from the television images and this moulded plastic mirror, made by Plaistere and Hanger in 1976, features an altogether different style of Paddington artwork. Note the wording on the bottom which, with a slight change from Paddington's label, says "Please look after your teeth. Thank You"! |
